Wren – Zana Mae Pierce, 87, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015, at Oak Tree Manor, Amory. Born on September 21, 1927, in Belk, AL, she was a daughter of the late Ernest William and Georgia Ann Davis Pickle.
She attended Trace Road School. On October 27, 1945, she married Cecil Virgil Pierce. Having worked in the area garment industry, Mrs. Pierce worked as a housekeeper with Gilmore Memorial Hospital for 18 years, retiring in 1990. A God-fearing lady and life-long Baptist, she was a Bible believer and a member of Bigbee Baptist Church. Very kind and always helping others, Mrs. Pierce was a member of Wren Library Club. She loved to “go” places, and enjoyed going to church, quilting, gardening, and listening to Gospel music, especially the Booth Brothers.
Survivors include her daughters, Joyce Pannell (Ron), Columbus, Loyce Clark (Larry), Nettleton, and Doris Archer, Wren; son, Larry Pierce (Jerri), Amory; grandchildren, Gene Pierce, Laura Buskirk, Jay Pierce, Cecil Reich, Kevin Reich, Jerry Brown, Darryl Lynn Brown, Alethia Brown, Johnny Park, Cole Archer, and Kerry Archer; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 5 sisters, 5 brothers, and a son-in-law, Ronald Archer.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Monday, August 17, 2015, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. Justin Haynes and Bro. Tommy Monts officiating. Burial will follow in Young Memorial Garden. Pallbearers will be Mitch Willis, Boyd Duncan, Dan Chism, Danny Chism, Charles Watson, and Donald Stegall. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Sunday and from 1 PM until the service hour on Monday at the funeral home.
