Wren – Yvonne “Von” Wideman Funderburk, 52, died on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Pioneer Community Hospital, Aberdeen. Born on October 19, 1961, in Amory, she was a daughter of E. J. Wideman and Martha Robinson.
Von graduated from Hatley High School in 1980, where she was captain of the cheerleading squad. On July 24, 1982, she married Richard “Ricky” Funderburk. After high school, Von graduated from Vaughn’s Beauty College and worked at Helen’s in Becker. In 1987, she graduated from Mississippi University for Women (MUW). For over 25 years, Von worked for the Department of Human Services where she was involved with foster children and parenting. She was a Service Unit Manager and former Girl Scout leader for 35 years and continued to be an active supporter her entire life. Von was a member of Central Grove Baptist Church, where she was actively involved with the youth and many other aspects of the church life. For many years, she was an avid supporter of Amory High School Band Boosters. A wonderful, loving wife, Von was full of energy and believed in volunteering. Her hobbies included scrapbooking, camping, catering, water sports, trips to New York City and relaxing in The Smokey Mountains.
Survivors include her husband, Ricky Funderburk, Wren; two precious children, Katie and Caleb; parents, E. J. Wideman; Martha Robinson; brother, Jeff (Amanda) Wideman; sister, Vanessa Ray, mother- and father-in-law, Carole and Marvin McKissick, all of Amory; special uncle, Dr. Charlie (Jennie) Boggan, Dandridge, TN; brothers-in-law, Marty Funderburk and Steve (Aida) Funderburk, Nashville, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 4 PM, Tuesday, September 16, at Central Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Dennis Smithey, Bro. Charlie Boggan, and Marty Funderburk officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Caleb Funderburk, Brad Bryant, Randy Leach, Buddy Mims, Allen Nicholas, Don Monell, Kevin Womack, and David Anderson.
Visitation will be from 5 – 9 PM, Monday at the funeral home. She will lie-in-state at the church from 3 PM until the service hour Tuesday.
Memorials may be contributed to Central Grove Baptist Church, Girl Scouts of America, or the charity of your choice.
