Wynelle Glenn Hood

Amory – Wynelle Glenn Hood, 90, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Greenhouses of Traceway. Born on September 24, 1925, in Amory, she was a daughter of the late Harvey Nelson Glenn, Sr., and Nona Elisa Tubb Glenn.

Wynelle graduated from Amory High School, Class of 1943. On February 16, 1946, she married Robert Page Hood and they were happily married for 63 years. Together they raised two children. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. Having worked at Hood’s Cleaners and as a bookkeeper with Glenn Mfg., she was a talented businesswoman. Wynelle also worked as the Deputy Clerk for the City of Amory before retiring.

Outgoing, caring, and loved by all, she never met a stranger. Possessing a heart of compassion, Wynelle was always giving and doing for others. Always smiling, she was passionate about her family and especially cherished the special times with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her Mema. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Aberdeen, where her husband was a member. Wynelle enjoyed many years of square dancing, fishing, and camping. She loved gardening and sharing not only fresh fruits and vegetables, but also those she had canned and frozen. A true Proverbs 31 lady, she was her husband’s caregiver as his health declined.

Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Brook (Dan), Starkville; son, Dwight Hood (Leanna), The Villages, FL; grandchildren, Glenn Brook (Melissa), Cassie Hill (Robin), and Scott Crawford; great-grandchildren, Brennan and Bella Brook; Annsley, Taylor, and Henry Hill; and Lacey Crawford; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Page Hood; sister, Wilma Ausborn; and brothers, Coy, Doyle, and H. Nelson Glenn, Jr.

Her Graveside Service will be held at 3:30 PM, Monday, February 15, 2016, in Haughton Memorial Park, Amory, with Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. Burial will follow. Pallbearers will be Jimmy, Todd, Gregory, Allen, and Malcolm Glenn; and Paul Welch.

Visitation will be from 2 – 3:15 PM, Monday, at the funeral home. Everyone is asked to meet at 3:15 PM, Monday, to go in procession to the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorials to Sanctuary Hospice, PO Box 2177, Tupelo, MS 38803 or to Palmer Home for Children, PO Box 746, Columbus, MS 39703.
