Amory – Wynell Addington “Winnie” Owens, 71, died on Friday, March 21, 2014, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born on February 23, 1943, in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Edra Belva Millican Addington.

Winnie was a graduate of Amory High School and attended Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville. Working in several Southern states, she was a retired retail salesperson. Winnie moved to Amory in 2011 and attended East Amory Baptist Church. Outgoing with a dynamic personality, her family was most important to her. Enjoying music, Winnie sang and played the piano and also had an aspiration to be a professional singer.

She is survived by her daughter, Christy Carter (John), Lake City, SC; son, Andy Owens (Melissa Gardner), Summerville, SC; grandchildren, Courtney and Jenny Carter; and Alec, Luke, and Mary Grace Owens; half-brother, Chris Crenshaw; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 4 PM, Wednesday, March 26 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are given to a charity of choice.
