Mrs. Wilma A. Smith Beard, 75, passed away on Monday, February 26 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born on June 29, 1942 in Itawamba County, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Katie Smith Suggs. Wilma attended Itawamba County schools and was of the Baptist faith. She was employed by Amory Garment as a seamstress until she retired.
Some of her favorite hobbies were to listen to county music especially George Jones, Johnny Cash and older county music artists, watching old westerns and sewing. She loved to sew for herself as well as her daughters. Wilma will be remembered for the love she gave to her family and will be greatly missed by all of them.
Wilma Beard is survived by her daughters: Patricia Wilbanks (Dale), Amory and Jennifer Bradley (Ronnie), Guntown; a brother: Elgar Suggs, Hatley; Grandchildren: Nathan Wilbanks (Britney), Amory, Sarah Snyder (Andrew), Columbus, Paul Buckner IV (Alisha), England; Great-Grandchildren: Miah Beth Wilbanks, Columbus, Grace Elizabeth Wilbanks, Amory, Conner Buckner, England; and 3 nieces and 1 nephew.
In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by a son, Michael Ray Webb.
A celebration of life service for Wilma Beard will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory. Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes will be officiating. Burial will follow in Coontail Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nathan Wilbanks, Dale Honeycutt, Stanley Ostrowski, and Ricky Reeves.
Visitation for Mrs. Beard will be from 12:00-1:50 PM, Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the funeral home.
