Willie M. Nelson

Becker – Willie M. “Bill” Nelson, 65, died on Thursday, August 23, 2012, at OCH Regional Medical Center, Starkville. Born on October 24, 1946, in Becker, she was a daughter of the late Carlos and Lucille Jenkins Odom.

Mrs. Nelson attended Becker Schools. She married Joe Carl Nelson in 1975. A homemaker, she loved family gatherings, cookouts and all the fun-loving good humor at all the gatherings. Mrs. Nelson was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed fishing, flower arranging, her dogs, collecting all kinds of trinkets, and listening to Gospel music and watching Gospel Channel 39.

She is survived by her daughter, Theresa Gann (Ned), Becker; sons, Tim Nelson (Heidi), Amory, and Jeff Nelson (Marsha), Virginia Beach, VA; sisters, Etoy Chism, Wren, Jean Waits, Wren, Lortez Tate, Bigbee, and Syble Caldwell, Valdosta, GA; grandchildren, Amanda Knight, Cory Box (Leanne), Devin Nelson, Savannah Nelson, and Luke Nelson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Carl Nelson; son, Rodney Wayne Knight; sister, Virginia Pace; and brother, L. C. Odom.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, August 26 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Robert E. Fowlkes officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny “Bo” Knight, Randy Smith, Ron White, Larry Reeves, Jr., William “Buzz” Francis, and David Chism. Honorary pallbearer will be Robert “Bob” Knight.

Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.
