William Holland
Smithville, Miss.—William Thomas Holland, 85, died on Monday, March 11, 2013 at the Mississippi State Veterans’ Home in Oxford. Born August 26, 1927 in Smithville, he was a son of the late George and Eva Alred Holland. He married Lela Scott in 1987. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a Mason. Guided by God and his family, he was a member of the Smithville Baptist Church. Before his retirement, he was a farmer and also sold farm implements. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, and building pea shellers.
Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Young Memorial Gardens in Smithville with Bro. Danny Burks officiating. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Clara Perkins of Sardis and Pam Bolton of Batesville; one son, Danny Holland of Pontotoc; two sisters, Jessie Sullivan of Tupelo and Yvonne McCain of Walls; one brother, O.C. Holland of Pennsylvania; 6 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; one daughter, Debbie Harwell; one sister, Pauline Bailey; and two brothers, George Holland and James Holland.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening and will continue until 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
