William Thomas Ledbetter

William Thomas Ledbetter (Truck), 81, passed away on Friday, April 18 at Generations of Vernon Convalescent Center, Vernon, Alabama. Born in Amory, Mississippi on June 25, 1943, he was the son of Anna Faye and William Moss Ledbetter.

Thomas attended Amory Public School and served in the US Army and the US Air Force. He married Peggy Pickle of Sulligent, AL; they had two children: Lisa Ann and William Richard. He later married Patsy Creeley of Amory who passed away in 2009.

Thomas worked at various factories in northern Mississippi, and in his later years, he worked near his home in Blue Springs. He was well known for walking everywhere. Later in his life he enjoyed playing cards with his sisters.

In 2014, he moved to be with his son Richard and his wife, Linda in Vernon, AL where he enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

In 2016, Thomas entered the Generations of Vernon Convalescent Center where he received excellent care and where he was a “favorite”!

Thomas is survived by daughter, Lisa Williams of Texas; son, Richard Ledbetter of Vernon, AL; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three nieces; one nephew; two sisters, Betty Childers of Mooreville, MS and Charlotte Ownby of Albuquerque, NM; and daughter-in-law, Linda Ledbetter of Vernon, AL.

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Amory Masonic Cemetery with Pastor Linda Ledbetter officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Ledbetter, William Ledbetter, Tiffany Ledbetter, Andy Childers, Jason Childers, and Mary Ownby.
