William “Red” Reeves departed for his heavenly home on October 8, 2024 after a short illness. He was born to Floyd and Christine Reeves on December 25, 1940 in Helena, Arkansas. Red was known as being “one of a kind”. He grew up in Amory and there was not a soul he did not know and not many that didn’t know him. Red was a character for sure! He was a loving father, husband, brother and friend. No matter what his family and friends needed, he would say “Where there is a will there is a way and Will I Am. “He always told us he could fix anything but a broken heart, and he could make us forget that.
His hobbies were trucking and playing with his grandchildren. Known affectionately by all as “Papa” he will be missed by his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Christine Reeves; his daughter, Patti Reeves Newcomb; and his brothers, Floyd “Sonny” Reeves, Edwin Reeves, and Danny Reeves.
He will be missed by his siblings, Cathy (Oliver) Stanley, George (Joyce) Reeves, Ray (Leticia) Reeves, and Clara Donalson; his children, Terri Flowers, Christi and Tommy Wilkerson, and Will Reeves; his grandchildren, Blair (Payton), Brett, Jake, Sam, Kelsi, and Mary Kathryn (Bubba); his great-grandchildren, Sunni, Fisher, Coley, and Lucy Kathryn; his sister-in-law, Mary Etta Reeves, and especially by his wife of 62 years, whom he adored, Sherry Reeves.
Keep on Truckin’ Papa.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, October 11, at 11:00 am, at First Baptist Church in Amory, MS with Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery with Pallbearers being David Mitchell, Corey Fines, Steven Reeves, Ben Reeves, Michael Reeves, Todd Stanley, Bo Stanley and Lee Griggs. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday at the church from 10:00 am until the service hour at the church.
