Amory – William F. “Bill” Mills, 98, died on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born on April 27, 1914, in Guin, AL, he was a son of the late Matt and Mary Mills.
Mr. Mills attended school in Guin, AL. In 1935, he married Myrtle Lee Burks. Working with at Johns Manville in Zion, IL, he retired as a supervisor in 1965 and moved back to Amory. For several years, Mr. Mills operated Hatley Road Furniture. Very outgoing, he never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting with folks, especially at his store. Mr. Mills was a Mason with the J. A. Mayfield Masonic Lodge #165. He enjoyed going to the Casinos, fishing, and squirrel hunting.
He is survived by a daughter, Helen Neblett (Lester), Verona; sister, Mae Mills, California; grandchildren, Mike Mills, Billy Wayne McAnally, James Mills, Kathy McAnally, and Hubert Franklin Mills, Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sons, Hubert Franklin Mills and Basil Gordon Mills; a great-granddaughter, River Grace Mills; 4 sisters; and 2 brothers.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, January 25 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Van Dale Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be James, Mike, john, Matt, Jamie, and Josh Mills.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Thursday at the funeral home.
