Hoover — William Larry Howell, 63, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018, in Hoover, AL. Born on July 12, 1954, in Hatley, he was a son of the late Ollie Roman "Johny" and Ruth Joy Thomas Howell.
In 1980, Larry graduated from Mississippi State University majoring in Engineering Technology. For more than 37 years, he worked as a Professional Land Surveyor, enjoying every day to the fullest. He also worked with S&W Engineering in Birmingham. Larry was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Amory.
Larry was very dedicated to his family. He especially loved spending time with his family and taking care of his mother. He was a loving and caring son, brother, and uncle. Larry enjoyed spending time with his Bulldog Club friends, eating out, and going to the movies; especially with his mother, Ruth Joy. Being a dedicated MS State fan, he loved traveling to all the ballgames. In his free time, Larry liked to listen to Classic Rock and watch movies.
Larry was born at the Gilmore Sanitarium, which later became The Amory Regional Museum. His childhood home became Meadowood Baptist Church. He would joke to friends that he must be pretty special to have the hospital he was born in become a museum and his childhood home a church. Larry was a very special man who has left a lasting impact on many of those who knew him.
