Amory – William Thomas Hamlett, Jr., 86, died on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at The Meadows, Fulton. Born on May 4, 1928, in Marked Tree, AR, he was a son of the late Tressie Phillips and William Thomas Hamlett, Sr.
Mr. Hamlett worked for OTL in Okolona as a truck driver and mechanic and was an evangelist at Jesus Name Church of God. Passionate about his family and helping people, he was a hard-worker and a jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed good pranks, fishing, working, and preaching.
Survivors include his daughters, Debra Marcum (Tommy), Winfield, AL, Zebbie Caldwell (Nathan), Nettleton, and Tammi Kimbrough (Troy), Amory; sons, Gary Hamlett (Willadean), Brilliant, AL, Terry Hamlett (Janet), Hamilton, Larry Hamlett (Peggy), Amory, Jerry Hamlett (Sharron), Hamilton, and Kerry Hamlett, Corinth; sisters, Beatrice Whitlow (Truman), Henderson, TX, Pauline Thompson (David), Three Rivers, MI, and Irene Yates (Burley), Holland, MI; brother, Sam Hamlett (Debbie), Henderson, TX; 40 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Arlena Willingham Hamlett; daughter, Patricia Sutterfield (Gerald); brother, Woodlow Hamlett; and granddaughters, Shelly and Lilly Hamlett.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11 AM, Sunday, August 3 in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Woodruff; Gary and Larry D. Hamlett; Michael and Austin James; and Nathan Caldwell.
Visitation will be from 9 – 10:40 AM, Sunday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:40AM to go in procession to the cemetery.
