Amory – Willene Maxwell Ball, 73, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, MS. Born on November 10, 1943, in Marion County, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Lawrance Daniel and Eva Pearl Williams Maxwell.
Willene graduated from Hatley High School with the class of 1962. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and she loved the Lord. Willene married Lecil Ball and they were blessed with four children. She went to work at Glenn Manufacturing and later changed her career to go in the caregiving industry. She received her CNA certification and worked for over 20 years at Beverly Nursing Home. Willene was passionate about her family and enjoyed spending cherished time with them.
As she had battled cancer, she was very outspoken about Breast Cancer Awareness. She loved to socialize with people and drink coffee and solve the world’s problems. She was proud of raising her family and being a supportive wife and loving mother. She loved to listen to Gospel music throughout the day and she especially loved Amazing Grace. In her free time, she would care for her beautiful rose bushes and work in her flower garden. Willene was famous for her homemade cheeseburgers, dressing and sweet potato pie. She loved caring for people and cooking for others. Her memories will live on in her family and friends.
Willene is survived by her sons, Christopher T. ball (Melinda), Kevin D. Ball, and Gregory S. Ball (Debra Jackson) all of Amory; daughter, Melissa F. Rose (Justin), Aberdeen; grandchildren, Christopher, Samuel(Nicole), Cory, and Nicole Ball; Dustin(Emily) Ball; Kayla and Joe Dodd; Hunter and Hannah McNeese; great-grandchildren, Megan, Michael, Madison, Bryson, Colton, and Audrey Ball; Layla and Cheynne Harris; Trey Ball; Kenzlie Merritt; sister, Marilyn Hines, Florida; nieces and nephews, Billy and Chris Porter; Wendy Spegle, Vicky Maxwell,Jennie Harris; Shawn Ball; Kimberly Ball and Chasity Outlaw; Special friends, Betty Jean, Pansy, James Joyner, Katherine Allen, ; Sally Simmons, Ralph and Bobby Reeves; Bernice Lanny.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lecil Ball; brother, J. W. Maxwell.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 19, 2017 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory. Bro. Justin Simmons and Daniel Dodd will be officiating. Burial will follow in Lann Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Christopher, Samuel, Cory, and Dustin Ball; Joe Dodd; Hunter McNeese.
Visitation for Willene will be on Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 12:00 pm until 1:50 PM at the funeral home in Amory.
