Quincy – Willadean Harris, 88, passed away on October 27, 2017, at her residence. Born on September 1, 1929, in Hamilton, AL, she was a daughter of the late Garvin and Myrtle Shotts Hunt.
Willadean graduated from Hamilton High School with the Class of 1948. On May 10, 1952, she married the love-of-her-life, Luther Chevreul Harris. During her career, she worked as a nurse’s aide at Gilmore Sanitorium and as a homemaker. She also worked at the Cloth Basket in Amory. Willadean was a loving nurturer and caretaker of others. She was a hard worker and woman of strong faith in the Lord.
Willadean was of the Methodist faith. Her love for her family guided her life. In her free time, she enjoyed watching Ole Miss football as well as her grandchildren’s sports teams. She was famous for her delicious coconut cakes and was a fantastic cook. Willadean will always be remembered for her faithfulness and devotion as her legacy lives on in her family members.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Novotny (Marv), Houston, TX; son, Luke C. Harris (Kathy), Amory; grandchildren, Heather Harris Gault (Paul), Chris Novotny (Tricia), Jon Novotny; great-grandchildren, Ben and Wes Gault; Luke and Nathan Novotny; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Cecil and Gentsy Harris, Margie Wright and Elmer Troyer.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Verdo and Vaudee Hunt.
Her Funeral Service will be at 2 PM, Sunday, October 29 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Rev. Don McCain officiating. Burial will follow in Durrett Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cecil Harris, Ralph Reeves, George Bowen, Bert Mize, Blake Bowen, Jon Novotny and Paul Gault.
Visitation will be from 12 – 1:50 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.
