Born on May 30, 1926 in Alabama, she was the daughter of the late G.G and Edith Hiden Stone. Weynona was a graduate of Sulligent High School. She married James Oliver Poore in 1945, who survives. Upon moving to Amory, she worked in the garment industry at Glenn Manufacturing and also as a teacher’s aide at Amory Elementary School before her retirement.. She was a member of Hatley Primitive Baptist Church. Weynona was the best cook and enjoyed sewing and gardeningShe is survived by her husband of 65 years, James Oliver Poore of Amory; daughter, Norma Cother (John E) of Tupelo; brothers, Herol Stone of Birmingham and Jimmy Stone of Vernon AL; two sisters, Marie Weeks of Vernon AL and Mary Griffin of Columbus MS; two grandchildren, Jason Cother and Justin Cother; two great-grandchidlren, Waylon and Weston Cother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marcelle Peeler and a brother, Gilbert Stone. A graveside service for Weynona will be held at 4:30 PM, Monday, April 11, 2011 at Hatley Cemetery in Hatley with Elder Tim Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2-4 pm.Memorials may be given to Alzheimer’s Association MS Chapter NE Branch, POB 540, Amory MS 38821, or Hatley Primtive Baptist Church, 60036 Fowlkes Rd, Amory MS 38821Memories and condolences may be shared and viewed at eepicklefuneralhome.com.
