Wendell Weaver
Amory, Miss.—Claude Wendell Weaver, 79, died on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born October 13, 1933, he was a son of the late Hal and Hazel Hull Weaver and he married Muriel Maye Hamilton in 1952. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Before his retirement, he was an agent for Woodmen of the World and a Frito-Lay distributor. He was a former music director for Getwell Baptist Church and also served as deacon and music director for Calvary Baptist Church. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, and riding his tractor. He enjoyed spending time with his dogs, Monti, Oso, and Rascal.
A Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Mac Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Lisa Thompson (Jeff Dodson) of Mantachie; one sister, Joy Knox of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Hal Weaver (Frances) of Amory; grandson, Cory Thompson; special friend, Doris Hathcock; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Stanley Weaver; and one daughter, Stephanie Weaver.
Pallbearers will be Jason Dodson, Brad Hamilton, Glenn McCarver, Richard Thompson, Phillip Bailey, and Harold Hathcock.
Visitation will continue until service time on Thursday.
