Greenwood Springs – Wayne Puckett, 77, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at his residence. Born on July 13, 1938, in Hamilton, AL, he was a son of the late Rev. Clarence R. and Beatrice Boyett Puckett.

Wayne attended school in Greenwood Springs and Sipsey Fork. He was a good Christian man who loved God and his family. He married the love of his life, Wanda Stone, on September 17, 1955 and together they raised four children. He owned and worked at B & P Hardware Store in Sulligent, Alabama for 30 years. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, he worked at Walker Manufacturing. He was a kind hearted business man who was involved in the community. He was passionate about his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a pillar of the community and attended New Center Point FWB Church for 77 years. He was known as the Rock that held people together and when tested, he always remained true to his character. Wayne was a Mason for over 55 years. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, visiting with folks, putting together puzzles, working in the yard, and listening to the Gaithers.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Stone Puckett, Greenwood Springs; daughters, Marilyn Bridges (Tommy), Sipsey Fork, Donna Gunter, Sipsey Fork; sons, Tim Puckett (Chastity), Gattman, Joel Puckett (Haley), Sipsey Fork; sisters, Willadean Spratlin, Hamilton, AL, Vinnie Lou Embrey, Bristow, OK, Ruth Vann (Wade), Sulligent, AL, Wanda Blaylock (Ray), Sipsey Fork; brothers, William Puckett, Amory, Bobby Puckett (Audine), Detroit, Al, Edward Puckett (Patsy), Sulligent, AL; grandchildren, Dana Flippo (Jeremy), Shane Bridges, Allison Mitchell, Phillip Brown, Nikki Riffle, Elaina Ponder (Corey), Eric Puckett, Qwade Murff (Torrie), Qwynn Guyton (Colton), Ally Murff, Carson Puckett, and Caroline Puckett; great-grandchildren, Emma & Miley Flippo; Marissa, Dewayne, and Clarissa Mitchell; Lily and Briggs Brown; Garrett and Carleigh Riffle; Qorrie Murff; several nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Mike Gunter; granddaughter, Julieanna Puckett; great-granddaughter, Alyssa Mitchell; brother, Charles Puckett; sister, Lois Dove; step-father, Curtis Scott; his special friend Frank Buckley.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, July 31, 2015, at New Center Point Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Kelvin Price and Bro. Redus Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Pickle Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Hulsey, Jessie Lee Barnes, Billy Robinson, Willie Metcalf, Billy King, Al Elbert, Jay Buckley. Honorary pallbearers will be Masonic Lodge 0602 Members, Mark Buckley.

Visitation will start at 5PM, Thursday at New Center Point Free Will Baptist Church.
