Amory – Wayne Hilton Parish, 77, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2020, at Diversicare Nursing Center, Amory, MS. Born on July 18, 1942, in Wren, he was the son of Hilton and Gertrude Clark Parish.
Wayne grew up in Monroe County and graduated from Wren High School where he was a great basketball player. He was actively recruited to play college ball yet a broken leg changed directions for him. He worked most of his career in the furniture industry with one main location being Indian Creek Apparel Corp. in Okolona. He also worked at Kerr-Magee and retired at age 65. Wayne loved going to auctions and eventually he became an Auctioneer for several years. He was blessed with two loving wives during his life, Elsie Marie Crump and Mary King. God gave him five sons and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a good loving father and provider for his family.
He was a Christian and a member of Coontail Baptist Church and later a member and Deacon at Carnation Baptist Church. He lived out his faith through his love for others; he was giving and was always helping those in need. A comedian, Wayne had a special place in his heart for Elvis and when he sang, he sounded just like him. Wayne enjoyed doing social things with his wife in the community and he really liked the peace he found while fishing. Some of his close friends were Travis Davis and Wayne Dykes.
Wayne’s love and friendship impacted many lives throughout the years. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Left behind to treasure his memories are his wife, Mary King; sons, Steven Trest (Michelle), Oxford, Ricky Trest (Lilia), San Antonio, Donnie Parish( Hye-Soo) Osan, South Korea, Cecil Smith, Jackson, MS, and Daniel Parish (Elizabeth), Hamilton, MS; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Lucy Bourgeois, Amory; special nephew, Larry Rowell; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie Marie Crump and his grandparents Mary and Sam Clark.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020, at 11:00 am at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Sister Margaret officiating. Burial will follow at Coontail Cemetery, Monroe County, MS. Pallbearers will be Ricky, Steve, Kolbe, Daniel, Jody, and Jeremy.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, from 9:30 am until 10:45 am at the funeral home chapel in Amory.
