Waynard Williams

Amory— Waynard Williams, 75, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2019 in Fulton. Born in Saltillo on June 23, 1943, he was a son of Pervy and Minnie Lee Dodson Williams.

Waynard attended Okolona and Saltillo schools. A hard worker, he spent his life working on farms and as a forklift driver in factories. Waynard worked for Puckett’s for several years, and spent over twenty years with Walker’s. His hobbies were gardening and carpentry work. Throughout winter, he built cabinets, and when summer arrived, he worked in his garden. Gardening and farming gave him great joy and pleasure, but his love for his God and his church families guided him throughout his life.

Waynard was a long-time faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Becker and Shannon, in addition to Dorsey Baptist Church. He loved attending church and enjoying fellowship with his brothers and sisters in Christ. He married his sweetheart, Emily Undean Williams, on April 14, 1973, and they spent many wonderful years making memories as a family. Waynard loved supporting his family and made sure he taught his children the value of hard work. His personal motto was, “Can’t never could do anything,” and he used this to inspire his children to always believe in themselves and strive to be successful. Waynard was a man of great faith who loved his family and leaves behind many precious memories. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is alive and well with his savior, Jesus Christ.

Waynard is survived by his daughter, Tammy Lynn Knight (Jay), Shannon; son, Michael Williams (Suzanne), Guntown; grandchildren, Jayson Knight, Joseph Knight, April Ashley, Ashley Douglas, Malcolm Williams, Landon Williams; great-grandchildren, Lyric Williams, Aria Ashley, Kendal “Ken” Douglas; brothers, Jim Williams (Ethel), Amory, Sam Williams (Barbara), Caledonia, Durrell Williams; a multitude of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Ralph Mitchell, The Carter Family, The Rodabough Family, and his beloved church families.

In addition to his parents, Waynard was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Undean Williams, and his dearly loved friend, James McNeese.

A funeral service will be held at 2PM Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, with Bro. Danny Rushing officiating. Burial will follow in Durrett Cemetery in Quincy.
