Greenwood Springs - Wanda Puckett, 77, passed away at her home on Sunday, November 27, 2016. She was born on May 14, 1939, in Fulton, MS, to the late Bathel Edison and Mary Ann Stark Stone.
Wanda attended school at Detroit Elementary and Sulligent High School. She married Wayne Puckett on September 17, 1955, who precedes her in death. She was employed at Coy Glenn Manufacturing, Sara Lou Fashions and co-owned B&P Hardware.
Wanda has been a member of New Center Point Freewill Baptist Church since 1958. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Wanda liked to spend time outdoors in her flower beds and watching the humming birds. She loved to show all of her pictures to her friends and family. She enjoyed talking on the phone and to check in on her neighbors. Among some of her closest friends were Grace Scott, Mary Lou Ford and Tot Scott. She was a large supporter of St. Jude and LeBonheur. She was faithful to send them donations and loved receiving the calendars in the mail which showed pictures of all of the children. Her favorite music was the Gaithers and all of the Southern Gospel Music.
Wanda Stone Puckett is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Bridges (Tommy) and Donna Gunter; sons, Tim Puckett (Chasity), Joel Puckett (Haley); sisters, Frances Harrison (Ralph); her extended family, Mildred Stone, Eva Dell Stone, Willa Dean Spratlin, Bobby and Audine Puckett, Edward and Patsy Puckett, Vinnie Lou Embrey, Wade and Ruth Vann, Ray and Wanda Blaylock; Grandchildren, Dana (Jeremy), Shane (Kayla), Allison, Phillip (Brittany), Elaina (Corey), Eric, Carson, Caroline, Nikki, Qwade (Torrie), Qwynn (Colton), Ally; great-grandchildren, Emma, Miley, Haley, Harley, Derick, Brooke, Dewayne, Clarissa, Lily, Briggs, Logan, Garrett, Carleigh, Qorrie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouse, Wayne Puckett; granddaughter, Julie Anna Puckett; great-granddaughter, Alyssa Mitchell; brothers: Robert (Bud) Stone, Herbert Stone; sisters, Helen Holloway, Polly Jones, Maurine Brown; son-in-law, Mike Gunter.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 11 AM, Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at New Center Point Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Kelvin Price, Bro. Bradley Long and Bro. Howard McNeal officiating. Burial will follow in Pickle Cemetery in Greenwood Springs. Pallbearers will be Shane Bridges, Jeremy Flippo, Phillip Brown, Corey Ponder, Eric Puckett, Carson Puckett, Chris King, and Jerry Scott. Her great-grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation for Mrs. Puckett will be on Tuesday evening, November 29 from 5:00 until service time on Wednesday at New Center Point Free Will Baptist Church, Greenwood Springs, MS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105; LeBonheur Children’s Hopsital, 848 Adams Ave, Memphis, TN 38103; or a local church of your choice.
