Amory - Wanda Joy Bratton Moffett, 72, died on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Gilmore Memorial RMC, Amory. Born on August 15, 1941, in Pontotoc, she was a daughter of the late Louis Russell and Lula Bell Bowling Bratton.
Wanda was an excellent basketball player and a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1959. She married James E. Moffett on March 27, 1959. Wanda was the secretary to Principal Thompson at Amory High and later served as secretary for Hudson and Moffett Construction. She was a member of Becker Baptist Church. Being with family was her joy. Loving, strong, tender-hearted, giving, crafty, and selfless, Wanda enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, singing, softball, bargain shopping, Southern Gospel music, Alabama football, and the Atlanta Braves.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, James E. Moffett, Amory; daughter, Tracie M. Poole, Amory; sons, Timothy Moffett (Angela), Rusty Moffett (Kristie) and Mitch Barrow of Birmingham; grandchildren, Justin, Jared, Amory Moffett; Autumn Poole; Ashley Scarnato; Jerod Thornhill; and Blake Crum; great-grandchildren, Kincade Moffett and Macayden Thornhill; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tara Layne Moffett.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:30 PM, Saturday, July 26 at Becker Baptist Church with Dr. Landon Dowden and Bro. Randy Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Blake Crum; Adrian, Jared, Justin, Kenny, and Mitch Moffett; and Jerod Thornhill.
Visitation will be from 2 PM until the service hour at the church.
