Virginia A. Gray

Amory— Virginia Ann Gray, 79, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born on February 7, 1940, she was the only daughter along with three boys of Gentry Durell and Era Mae Funderburg Tubb.

Virginia attended Becker schools. She drove school buses for Hatley schools for 28 years, and she served in the cafeteria at Hatley for 16 years. Virginia married the love of her life and best friend, Clyde Gray, on December 4, 1954. She and Clyde were long-time members of Meadowood Baptist Church. Virginia loved her church family and enjoyed their fellowship.

Virginia was a friendly and outgoing lady who never met a stranger. She was strong willed and loved her boys more than anything. She was a loving mother and a dedicated wife. Although Virginia will dearly missed, her family takes comfort in knowing that this is not goodbye. The memories she made with her family and friends will live on forever.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 64 years, Clyde Gray; sons, Ronnie Clyde Gray (Laura Ann), Kevin Bruce Gray (Audrey), Terry Michael Gray (Marissa); grandchildren, Cameron Ronnie Gray, Andrew Lee Gray, Kristen Wilson (Blane), Doug Isaiah Gray, Leslie Nicole Smith (Adam), Lacy Marie Simmons, Brianna Gray, Caleb Michael Gray, Allison Ann Gray; 10 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and her beloved church family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David Lee Gray; and brothers, Wayne Durell Tubb, Ivy Carroll Tubb, and Gary Paul Tubb.

A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt officiating. Burial will follow at Gray Cemetery in Nettleton. Pallbearers will be friends and family.
