Becker – Vickie Lynn Mitchell, 56, died on September 27, 2013, at her residence. Born on June 11, 1957, in Clarksdale, she was a daughter of the late William Hollis and Elizabeth Dean Knight Griffin.
Having attended Memphis Schools, Vickie moved to Amory in 1971, and attended Amory High School. She worked as a seamstress and cloth spreader in the local furniture and garment industries. A determined and generous lady who had a big heart, she was passionate about Ronald McDonald House in Memphis. She was Baptist. Loving life and her family, Vickie enjoyed playing card and dice games, teaching her family how to play these games, traveling, taking pictures, and listening to Old Country music.
Survivors include her partner, Steve Phillips, Becker; daughter, Hollie Mitchell (Michelle Rubin), Atlanta; 3 step-daughters; a step-son; 6 step-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Carter and Sheila Manning, Southaven; Brenda Lewis, Independence; Sherry Harris, Southaven; Debra “Bozie” Moore, Nesbit; Toni Pearson, Smithville; and Sandra Joyce, Mumford, TN; brother, Eddie F. Griffin, Counts, TN; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Paula Kay Hurley and Belinda Hall.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Bradley Ray Mitchell; sister, Linda Coley; and brothers, Billy Earl and Clarence A. “Red” Griffin.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, September 30 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Mac Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Michael and Matt Pearson; Keith and Shawn Coley; Bo Griffin; Andrew Kennedy; and Chris Denton.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.
