Velma Camp

Amory – Velma Ruth Camp, 84, died on Monday, August 22, 2011, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born on March 1, 1927, in Splunge, MS, she was a daughter of the late Dock and Dessie Pickle Camp.
A faithful and God-fearing lady, Miss Camp was an active member of Trace Road Baptist Church. Before retiring, she was an inspector in the local garment industry. A very giving and unselfish person, she was a mother to her nieces and nephews. Miss Camp enjoyed reading, especially her Bible, talking and fellowshipping with her friends on the telephone, cooking for people, doing find-a-word puzzles, watching Gospel Channel 39, and listening to Gospel music.
She is survived by her sisters, Ludeen Gray (Kirk) and Ruby Jean Gray (Billie), of Amory; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Minnie Mae Adams, Lonie Bell Howard, Ila Plunkett, Earlene Summers, and Opal Camp; and brothers, Roy Lee Camp, Trannie Camp, James Camp, Dannie “D. C.” Camp, Hobert Camp, and Thomas Camp.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, August 25 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Jamie Stark and Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Gray, Roger Gray, Keith Gray, Kevin Gray, Kerry Mitchell, and Scott Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Trace Road Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 6 – 9 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Trace Road Baptist Church, 1201 Trace Church Rd., Amory, MS 38821.
