Vanassa Arlene Miller Lewis

Nettleton – Vanassa Arlene Miller Lewis, 56, met her Savior face to face on Friday, December 1, 2023. She was born on June 28, 1967, in Amory, Mississippi to the late Early Miller and Barbara McCrea.

Vanassa grew up in a big family and graduated from Nettleton High School. She was a hard worker for many years and an entrepreneur. She owned and operated LL Painting, LLC and helped transform many the home through the years. Vanassa married the love of her life, Ricky Lewis and they were blessed with three children. Ricky was her best friend and her family meant the world to her, which would explain why she was considered the “Boss” as she held the family together like glue. As her family grew, she was blessed with grandbabies and they were the apple of her eye.

She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of The Professor’s of Jesus’s Name Church in Nettleton. She loved to listen to Southern Gospel. Her church family was her extended family and some of her closest friends were Betty Cooper and Melissa Jackson. They often liked to go shopping both at businesses as well as at yard sales. Vanassa was giving and was passionate about the Red Cross and their service to the community. In her downtime, she liked to paint trinkets, bird houses and cooking for her beloved family.

Through the years she touched many lives both through her work and the strong love for her family. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Left behind to treasure her memories are her husband, Ricky Lewis, Nettleton; daughter, Chasaty Amaziane (Mbarek), Memphis; sons, Bobby Lewis (Danielle), Nettleton, and Jerry D. Dillard, Nettleton; step-daughters, Crystal Dunsford, Nettleton, and Angie Dodd (Jody), Wren; sisters, Gloria Filgo, Guntown, Tina Clayton (Eddie), Nettleton, and Wanda Williams (Jessie), Cullman, AL; grandchildren, Laila, Amina, Sabreen and Hassan; Kaitlyn, Jenna Brantley, and Chloe; Justin and Natalie; and Riley and Destiny; and one great-grandson, Zayn; a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Lila Dillard.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Professors’ of Jesus’s Name Church in Nettleton with Bro. Eddie Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in Gray Cemetery, Nettleton with pallbearers being Danny Lewis, Brandon Clayton, Dewayne Lewis, Timothy Clayton, Leamon Martinez, Steven Clayton, Nathan Clayton, and Daniel Martinez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Andrew Randolph, Denis Stanford, and Will Riley.

Visitation for family and friends will be at the church on Sunday from 10:00 am until the service hour at 1:00 pm.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to your local Humane Society.
