Val Christensen
Smithville, Miss.—Val Richard Christensen, 63, died on Friday, July 12, 2013 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born January 21, 1950 in Washington, DC, he was a son of the late Val D. and Dorothy Louise Smoke Christensen. He married Renee Mathews. Before his retirement, he worked as an iron worker and then later helping his son with Scott’s Lawn Care. A family man, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and he attended First Pentecostal Church in Aberdeen. He enjoyed riding horses and motorcycles.
A Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2013 at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Ricky Bowen and Bro. Joseph Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in the Young Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include two daughters, Renee Nicolle Christensen of Smithville and Danielle Adele Terry (Rev. James D., Sr.); two sons, Val Steven Christensen of Smithville and Scott Richard Christensen (Alicia) of Hodges, AL; one sister, Valerie Rupe (Alonzo) of Plantersville; one brother, Bryan Stanford (Betty) of Amory; 5 grandchildren, Ashley Terry, James Terry, Jr., Michelle Terry, Sarah Rose Terry, and Myla Christensen; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother; and second father, Jack Thomas Stanford.
Pallbearers will be Mike Walton, Joseph Stanford, J.B. Kuykendall, John Kuykendall, Evan Branham, and Winford Terry, Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be Val Steven Christensen, James Dexter Terry, Jr., and Brian Stanford.
Visitation will continue until service time on Monday.
