Amory – Troy C. Williams, 83, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2015, at Gilmore Memorial RMC, Amory. Born on May 8, 1931, in Amory, he was a son of the late Marvel C. “Mutt” and Vera Parish Williams.
An avid Panther supporter, he was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1951, where he was the Drum Major his senior year. Troy honorably served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. On May 7, 1989, he married Martha Joe Williams. For thirty-one years, he worked at Columbus Air Force Base overseeing the Base Supply and serving as an instructor. A member of Amory Church of Christ, Troy was a former Elder and song leader. Always having a great smile, he was full of kindness, loved everyone, and never met a stranger. One who loved his family, Troy enjoyed talking with people, traveling, going out to eat, fishing, Gospel music, and singing with his Quartet. Very dedicated, he was passionate about attending his grandchildren’s events, visiting church members and with folks who were sick, and singing at area nursing homes.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Joe Williams, Amory; daughters, Marlana Samples (Danny “Bud”) and Mona Young (Rodney) of Smithville; sons, Mark Williams (Rhonda), Caledonia, Jeff Sanderson, Memphis, Jay Sanderson (Anita), Old Hickory, TN, and Jon Sanderson (Cindy), Birmingham; grandchildren, Kristi Tipton (Jason); Jessica Mobley; Kelsi Watson; Darby Williams; Fisher Young; Macy Williams; Audrey, Bryan and Peyton Sanderson; Candy McGregor (Shane); Elyse Smith (Benjamin); Kathryn Henry (James); and great-granddaughter, Jilli Grace Asa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Trenton Dudley Williams.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, February 25 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Mr. James Wyers, Mr. Philip Hathcock, and Mr. Derek Maranto officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery (AHS). Pallbearers will be Fisher Young, Bryan and Peyton Sanderson, Jimmy Vaughan, Wayne Howell, Jason Tipton, John Wesley Gregory, and Alix Wright.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.
