Amory – Troy Wyndell Nivens, 81, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Columbus, MS. Troy was born in Delight, Arkansas, on August 24, 1935, to the late Add Percer and Minnie Melissa Morrow Nivens.
Troy attended school in Arkansas and graduated from Blevins High School with the class of 1955. He proudly served his country for six years in the Army National Guard and the United States Army during the 1950’s. He married the love of his life, Faye Anderson Nivens, on July 22, 1958. Together they were blessed with a son and two daughters. He was a great provider and he retired after working over 35 years as a District Manager with Halliburton Services. Troy was a member of Meadowood Baptist Church and he recently enjoyed fellowshipping at Hatley Missionary Baptist Church. He loved God and his family dearly and he was passionate about the great work which was done by the Caring Voices Coalition.
In his free time, he liked listening to gospel, country and bluegrass music. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Troy was a member of the J. H. Wooten, Sr., Masonic Lodge #503, in Laurel, MS and he was also a Charter Member of the Warrior Basin Chapter of the American Petroleum Institute. This wonderful man will be missed greatly by all that knew and loved him.
His survivors include his wife and best friend, Faye Anderson Nivens, Amory; son, Ron Wyndell Nivens (Sheila), Amory; daughters, Robin Renee Nivens, Amory; Melissa Shannon Nivens Foster (Eddie), Destin, FL; grandchildren, Jaclyn Nivens Walters (Aaron), Duncan Foster; great-grandchild, Mattox Walters; sisters, Naomi Slatton, Ruby Brown, and Bobbye Calhoon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory.
His funeral service in Arkansas will be on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 12:00 PM at the Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home, Hope, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 10AM until 12 PM at the Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home, in Hope, Arkansas.
