Born on August 7, 1948, in Amory, he was a son of the late Roy and Velena Rusoe Tate.Toney attended Bigbee School. On April 13, 1969, he married Lortez Odom. Toney was of the Baptist faith. His life was centered around his family, hunting, and fishing. Toney was a member of Big T Hunting Club. He enjoyed trading and listening to Country music.A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, January 19 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Chuck Moffett and Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Mayhew, Dennis Allred, Chris Smith, Andy Farrar, Matt Wilson, and David Hutcherson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Big T Hunting Club, Ronald Welch, David Barker, Junior Dean, Gilbert Hester, Harold Miller, Buster Randolph, Tommy Timms, and his Trading buddies.Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lortez Tate, Bigbee; daughters, Lisa Shepherd (Jeff), Quincy, and Gay Dean (Michael), Bigbee; son, Toney Lee Tate, Jr. (Renay), Bigbee; sister, Mary Wade, Smithville; brother, Billy Tate, Bigbee; grandchildren, Kayla and Dawn Shepherd; Jeffrey Tate; Leigh Anna Plunkett (Drew); Allie Reeves; Mallary, Chloe, and Austin Dean; and Johnathan and Sabrina Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Pierce and Edna Faye Boggan; brothers, Donnie and David Lee Tate; and special friends, Jimmy Roby and Larry Parker.Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at eepicklefuneralhome.com.
