Hatley- Tommy Poe, 53, died Monday, July 15, 2013 at Baptist Hospital in Columbus. Born June 19, 1960 in Amory, he was the son of Clara Doris Poe and the late Thomas Neely Poe, Sr.
Tommy graduated from Amory High School and studied tool and dye at ICC. He was of the Baptist faith, had worked for ITT Fabri Valve in Amory for the past 12 years and was owner of Amory Machine Works for over 20 years. Loving life and living it to its fullest, Tommy enjoyed spending time with friends and family at his cabin, telling stories, hunting and fishing, and working in his shop. More than anything, Tommy was a great dad, and was proud of his children, often citing his mother as his greatest influence in life.
He is survived by his daughter, Krysti Poe, Amory; son, Thomas Poe, Largo, FL; mother, Clara Doris Poe, Amory; sister, Donna Clement, Frankfurt, KY; great niece, Meilya McKitchen and numerous friends he considered just like family.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a sister, Jan Poe Carr.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, July 18 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Dudley Nash officiating. Inurnment will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Shelton, Bob Carr, Neil Pringle, Denver Earnest, Lavis Vaughn, Drew Parham, Jackie Wilson, and Larry Gray.
Visitation will be Wednesday Evening at the funeral home from 5-8 PM.
