Tommy C. Crook

Tommy Cornelius Crook, 88, passed away at his residence after a long illness with Parkinsons. He was born to Ethel and Lawrence Crook of Monroe County on January 27, 1930. He grew up in Becker, MS and attended Becker Elementary School, graduated from Amory High School with honors, was an Eagle Scout and member of Order of the Arrow.

Tommy graduated with special honors from Mississippi State University where he was President of the Student Body, President of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, member of Phi Eta Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi scholarship fraternities, Omicron Delta Kappa Honorary fraternity, and the MSU Maroon Band.

Tommy married Eva Brook McCullen on November 29, 1952 and they have been married 65 years. They had one son, Thomas Neil Crook (Sandy) of Hatley, MS , one daughter, Beth Crook Aycock (Tom) of Tupelo, MS and one grandson. Being an avid Mississippi State fan, Tommy took pride that his kids graduated from his Alma Mater.
Tommy served active duty with the Air Force for two years and then completed 38 years with the U.S. Air Force Reserve Service as Lt. Colonel. He was an Air Force civilian employee for 30 years as area audit chief with the Air Force Audit Agency.

Tommy operated Tommy Crook Tax practice with his wife and associates for 41 years retiring in 2003. He enjoyed his tax practice but retired because of health issues. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and past member of the administrative board. He was also a Mason.
He loved to travel and see the world. He and Brookie went on many trips together. He loved his family and his greatest joy was their grandson, William McCullen Ray (Morgan). He participated in all of his extracurricular activities and adored spending time with him.

A celebration of life service for Tommy Crook will be at 11:00 A.M., on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wesley Pepper officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charlie Llewellyn, Vaughn Dale Howell, Wayne Christian, Tom Crook, Ned Young, Tony Dill and Bubba Young.
Visitation for Tommy will be on Friday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church , P.O. Box 147, Amory, MS.
