Nettleton – Tollie Ray McCullar, 71, died on Thursday, December 18, 2014, at NMMC, Tupelo. Born on March 13, 1943, in Lamar County, AL, she was a daughter of the late Robert Wilson and Jossie Rene Haynes Johnson.
She attended Sulligent schools. On August 23, 1968, she married Delbert C. McCullar. After working as a seamstress with Glenn Mfg., Mrs. McCullar owned and operated McCullar Gas and Grocery Store in the Cason Community. A strong, loving hardworking and wonderful lady, she was a member of First Pentecostal Church, Aberdeen. Hardworking, loyal and independent, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and her dogs. Mrs. McCullar was passionate about her dogs and making and giving flowers to people. A jokester, she enjoyed Southern Gospel music, going to yard sales with her granddaughter, crocheting, gardening, and making pottery and ceramics.
Survivors include her husband, Delbert C. McCullar, Nettleton; daughter, Debra Higgins, Nettleton; son, Michail Abbott (Denna), Amory; brothers, Charles Johnson, Tupelo and Scotty “Butch” Johnson, Nettleton; grandchildren, Alisha Smith, Amanda Caldwell; Jamie, Ashley, Candice, Eric, Brandon, Sarah and Kade Abbott; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Garrett “Brady” and Lauren Grace Smith; Andrew Palmer; Emma and Lily Caldwell; Cassidy and Malya Sprinkle; Kilah, Jace and Calen Lewis; Jacob Abbott; Kaydence Fay; Courtney Abbott; Kyle, Rebecca, Jacob and Katelynn Cole; several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Randy Abbott; sister, Dorothy McCullar; brothers, James and Robert Johnson.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, December 20, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Ricky Bowen and Bro. Jamie Terry officiating. Burial will follow in Wofford Cemetery, Sulligent. Pallbearers will be Jordan Smith, Andrew Palmer, Jason Caldwell, Jason Smith, Lee Kozlowitz, Phil Johnson, Parker Tipton and Kenny English..
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
