Carolina Community- Thurman Edward Gann, 79, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at his residence. Born March 8, 1933, he was a son of Garvin and Effie Mae Brown Gann.
Before his retirement, he was a construction worker and was also a member of the Richmond Pentecostal Church. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served during the Korean War as an MP. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and gardening.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 1 PM, Saturday, June 9, 2012, at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Ricky Pearce officiating. Burial will be in the New Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Christopher Hattox, Terry Garvin, Roger W. Haley, and Brandon Haley. Bennett Garvin will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Mary Nell Fennell Gann of the Richmond Community; daughters, Shelia Toledo and Angie Penrod of Pasadena, TX; sons, Michael Gann (Shonna) of the Richmond Community, Wesley Gann of California, Tony Gann of San Antonio, TX, Tony Sheffield of Houston, TX, and Tim Sheffield of Mantachie; sister, Bonnie Fae Stegall of Carolina Community; brothers, Garvin Jr. Gann and Virgil Gann of Georgia; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herman, Hershal, and Charlie Gann; and a son, Roger Hawkins.
Visitation will be from 11 AM - 12:45 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.
