Amory – Bro. Thomas Rossi, 73, died on Friday, June 21, 2013, at North MS Medical Center. Born on May 14, 1940, in Keokuk, Iowa, he was a son of Thomas J. Rossi and the late Arveda Forquer Smith.
Bro. Thomas was the owner-operator of Rossi Drilling. A dedicated minister of the Gospel, he was a supply preacher and evangelist, having recently served at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. Passionate about missions, he traveled to several Third World Countries to drill wells, build churches, repair equipment, and to do gardening. Last year, Bro. Thomas received his Doctorate in Theology from Oxford, MS, Baptist Institute. He was a member of Traceland Missionary Baptist Church, Verona. He was a Mason. A hardworking and wonderful husband and dad, Bro. Thomas enjoyed gardening, mowing yards, studying on the computer preparing for his sermons and Sunday school lessons, and Gospel music.
He is survived by his wife, Hattie Mae Rossi, Amory; father, Thomas Rossi (Allie), Luray, MO; daughters, Joyce Dillard, Sulligent, Brenda Carruth (Roger), Sulligent, Patty Hawkins (Thad), Poplar Bluff, MO, and Debbie Mayfield (Mike), Vernon; sons, Rick Martin, Sulligent, Danny Baughn, Amory, and James Johnson, Hamilton, AL; brother, Robert Rossi (Delores), Arizona; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Herbert Smith; daughter, Lisa White; and granddaughter, Jody Hunizenga.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 AM, Monday, June 24 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Faust officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bro. Charles Lamb, Bro. Benny Loveless, Ricky Holliday, Bro. Thad Hawkins, Jimmy King, and Matthew Carruth. Honorary pallbearers will be teachers and staff of Oxford Bible Institute.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.
