Amory – Thomas Michael “Mike” Carter, 69, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at his residence. Born on August 2, 1945, in Aberdeen, he was a son of the late Thomas Ellis and Minnie Lee Stanford Carter.
Mike was a graduate of Hatley High School, Class of 1963. Before becoming disabled, he worked as a sewing machine mechanic over 20 years. Of the Baptist faith, he enjoyed reading his Bible with John Walden. A strong man who was an overcomer, Mike was a fun person and was known for giving great hugs. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, flower gardening, Old Country music, and watching Old Western movies. Mike was passionate about his children, grandchildren, and helping anyone in need.
Survivors include his daughters, Candace Marie “Candi” Howard (Andrew), Lake Wales, FL, and Stephanie Lynn Guevara (George), Marthasville, MO; son, Jason Carter (Erin), Mantachie; step-daughter, Brandy Michelle Schoolar (Bruce), Saltillo; sisters, Linda Carter Farrar, Hatley and Patsy Carter Tubb (Ronnie), Fulton; grandchildren, Drew, Carter, Brantley, Maddie, Sloan, Brady, and Jayce; a host of nieces & nephews; numerous special friends.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Chuck Wiygul.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12 PM, Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Truman Carter officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Tubb, John Walden, Justin Walden, Andy Farrar, DeWayne Culver.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the service hour.
