Amory – Thomas R. “Tom” Bowen, 74, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016, at Merit Health Gilmore Memorial Hospital, Amory, MS. Born on January 1, 1942, in Amory, he was a son of the late William and Exey Velda Lyle Bowen.
Tom was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1961. He honorably served his Country in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Polk, LA. A longtime dedicated employee with the City of Amory, Tom drove a ditcher. He dearly loved his parents and his family. Tom loved the otudoors, especially to fish and hunt; he loved his beagles; and enjoyed listening to Country and Gospel music. Tom was a private person and will be dearly missed by his friends and family.
He is survived by a sister, Doris Kennedy, Amory, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Mac and Red Bowen.
His Graveside Service will be at 2 PM, Wednesday, August 10, 2016, in Haughton Memorial Park, Amory. Burial will follow. Pallbearers will be Richard Jackson, Gary Bowen, and Ray Morris.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 12 – 1:45 PM, Wednesday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home. Everyone is asked to meet at 1:45 PM at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
