Therrell Williams,

Wren – Therrell E. Williams, Sr., 90, died on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at Gregory House at Traceway Manor. Born on November 23, 1921, in Monroe County, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dewey W. Williams.
Mr. Williams attended Wren Schools. He honorably served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. On March 31, 1946, Mr. Williams married Opal Sanders. He retired from Walker Manufacturing in 1985. A member of Grady’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Mr. Williams had served as the Sunday School Superintendent and was a member of the Methodist Men’s Club. A practical joker, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and having his neighbors come for visits. Mr. Williams was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed watching ballgames on television and Gospel music.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM, Friday, February 24 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Rev. Harrison Upshaw officiating. Burial will follow in Wren Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 PM, Thursday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Opal S. Williams, Wren; daughter, Gerry Britt (Terry), Brandon; son, Gene Williams (Kathy), Tupelo; brother, Dewey Williams (Jean), Wren; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Rutledge Williams.
