Theron Ponder

Amory – Theron Junior Ponder, 82, died on Sunday, August 10, 2014, at his residence. Born on December 31, 1931, in Lee County, he was a son of the late George Theron and Rosa Lee Ponder.

Mr. Ponder attended Nettleton School. On June 27, 1953, he married Shirley Dykes. Having a love for cars and working on car bodies, he was a mechanic with BJ Ford for nearly 40 years. Mr. Ponder was a Christian. A hard-working man, he was passionate about his family and helping others. He loved music, especially Old Country.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Sanders (Robert), Amory; son, Steve Ponder (Pam), Becker; sister, Bernice Bolen, Nettleton; grandchildren, Brad Ponder (Brandi), Corey Ponder (Elaina), Colby Ponder, Zack Golding (Heather), Whitney Loving, Paige Gough (Drew), Morgan Sanders; great-grandchildren, Brayden Ponder, Addison Loving, Jackson Loving, Farrah Gough, Peyton Benedict, Kipton Golding; nephews, Dennis, Danny and David Bolen; special friends, Bill Tibbett, Voy Cantrell, Mike & Ginger Owen, and Eloise Shields.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ponder.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, August 13 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. James Rutledge and Bro. Justin Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Corey, Brad & Colby Ponder; Zack Golding; Danny & David Bolen; Drew Gough. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Bolen, Bill Tibbett, Robert Staten, Voy Cantrell, Jimmy Doyle Young, and Raymond Ford.

Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Tuesday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory.
