Smithville – Thelma Lou Sizemore, 87, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, surrounded by her family at her residence. Born on December 22, 1929, in Becker, Mississippi, she was a daughter of the late James Arthur and Hilda Lou Meeks Tucker.
Mrs. Thelma attended Becker school. She married the love of her life, the late Basil Sizemore on Christmas Day, 1945. She was employed as a seamstress at Monroe Trousers for over 30 years. She was a faithful member of the Victory Baptist Church in Smithville, Mississippi.
Mrs. Sizemore loved to work in the garden growing vegetables and beautiful flowers. She was fondly known for growing great sweet potato pumpkins. She also liked to sew and walk at least 4 miles every morning. Needless to say, being outdoors was a wonderful place for her. In her spare time, Thelma was a collector of antique dolls. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends and all that knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Gregory (E. J.), Smithville; sister, Shirley Johnson (James), Fulton; grandchildren, Sherry Montgomery (Richard), Renee Caldwell (Chris), Edwin Gregory (Angela), and Patti Causey (Mike); great-grandchildren, Eric Mills (Latashia), Daniel Montgomery (Stephanie), Amber Pearson (Matt), Taylor Scruggs (Dylan) and Mallory Causey; great-great-grandchildren, Drew Gideon, Ayden Gideon, Anna Grace Pearson, Georgia Kate Mills, Ridge Mills, Ansley Scruggs; and a host nieces and nephews. Her caregivers were a part of her extended family: Crystal French, Kendra Thompson, Teresa Stephenson, Lynndon Cromeans and Christy Lann.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Katie Nell; 2 brothers: AM Tucker and Dudley Tucker; and a great-granddaughter, Allie Gregory.
Her Funeral Service will be at 3 PM, Friday, February 10 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. Garry Carroll and Bro. Wes White officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Montgomery, Edwin Gregory, Eric Mills, Drew Gideon, Ayden Gideon, and Chris Caldwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Dylan Scruggs, Matt Pearson, Mike Causey, and Richard Montgomery.
