Amory – Thelma 'Lucille' Coker-Cheatham, 89, died on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at her residence. Born on July 3, 1923, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Lester Lee and Rowena Kennedy Duncan.
Mrs. Coker-Cheatham worked as a seamstress with Longnecker’s Pants Factory until moving to North Chicago in 1958. Retiring in 1977, she and her husband moved to Union City, TN. Mrs. Coker-Cheatham moved to Amory in 2006 with her daughter and son-in-law. A lady who was very lovable and had a big heart, she strived to take care of herself and her family. She enjoyed crocheting, dancing, listening to Country Western music, fishing for catfish, and going to flea markets.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra S. Coker-Stone (Scott A.); sister, Velma Louise Monaghan; sister-in-law and special friend, Libble Coker Boock, all of Amory; grandson, Jeff Stone, Montville, CT; great-grandson, Christian Stone; nieces and nephews, J. B. Monaghan, Barbara Monaghan Harlow, and George Monaghan; and special friends, Guyther and JoAnn Spencer, Angie Schwalenberg, and Shannon Vaughn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon C. Cheatham; and twin brother, Elmer Boozer Duncan.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, May 29 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Rev. Don McCain officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Historical Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Harlow, Brent Harris, Greg Pressley, Aaron Pressley, George Monaghan, and Jade Myers.
Visitation will be from Noon – 1:50 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
