Amory – Thalia Francis Nash, 94, died on Friday, December 23, 2011, at her residence. Born on January 18, 1917, in Clarke County, AL, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Howell and Frances Belle Goodman Hutto.
Mrs. Nash attended Cook County, AL, schools. Moving back to Amory in 1961, she owned Hospital Flower Shop, Francis Flower Shop, and South Amory Florist. During World War II, she was a welding inspector at Alabama Dry Dock and Shipbuilding. Mrs. Nash attended First Baptist Church. A wonderful, loving lady who was willing to help anyone, she cherished spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Mrs. Nash was a life-member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a former Pilot Club member. She enjoyed working in her flowers and crocheting.
She is survived by her husband, Howard Nash, Amory; daughter, Margaret V. Rye, Amory; sons, Ralph Huggins (Terrie), Aurora, MN, Ted Nash (Anita), Hatley, Tony Nash (Nell), Wren, and Tim Nash, Kenosha, WI; brothers, Bealie and Cordell Hutto, Thomasville, AL; grandchildren, Laura Ward, Paul Huggins (Jane), Kevin Rye (Joanie), Kraig Rye (Connie), Keith Rye, Diane McNeil, Kent R. Rye, David A. Rye (Linda), Jason Nash (Jessica), Kelly Nash, Tawyna Shreck (Jim), and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Shelly Womack; Lauren, Landon, and Kraig Rye, Jr.; Shelby, Cameron, Harley, and Savannah Rye; Brandy, Heather, and Hali Hoffpauer; and James Andrew Rye; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister; two brothers; and two grandsons.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, December 28 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.
