Hatley - Steven Dale Kennedy, 50, died on Sunday, December 12, 2010, at NMMC, Tupelo. Born in Amory on October 9, 1960, he was a son of Clara L. Kennedy and the late Jimmy Dale Kennedy.
Kind-hearted and outgoing, Steven never met a stranger. He was a graduate of Hatley High School, Class of 1980. Steven had retired as a truck driver after 17 years with Birmingham Hide and Tallow. He was a member of Bigbee Baptist Church. Steven enjoyed gardening, working on various projects, listening to music by Alan Jackson and woodworking. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Kennedy, Hatley; mother, Clara Kennedy, Amory; daughter, Leslie Williams, Tupelo; son, Micheal Kennedy, Saltillo; step-sons, Adam and Nicholas Willhite, of Amory; sister, Felicia (Tony) Dill, Hatley; brothers, Jeff (Dena) Kennedy and Brad (Dellynn) Kennedy, of Hatley; grandchildren, Destiny Young, Jeremiah Williams and Tony Williams, Jr.; and nieces and nephew, GraceAnne, Taylor and JonBradley Kennedy, and Anna Kate and Cooper Crenshaw. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Romie and Dovie Kennedy and Grace Newport and Leon Laxton.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky and Greg Hood, Gary Bailey, Lance Beam, Chris Crenshaw and Eric Dill.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.
