Amory – SPC George E. Fishwick, 48, died on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at his residence. Born on October 30, 1962, he was a son of George and Judy Stewart Fishwick.
George attended Ventura, CA, High School and joined the US Navy, where he honorably served his country for eight years, stationed on the USS Nimitz and was in the Navy Reserves. He joined the US Army National Guard in 2001, and was a scout in the Iraq War. For 15 years, George had worked at Stafford’s Body Shop. He was of the Baptist faith. George was a dedicated and loving father. Very patriotic, he was dedicated to his Country and the American flag. He was a member of the VFW. Artistic, creative, and possessing a great sense of humor, George always did the right thing regardless of the circumstances. Having a big heart, he was an animal lover and volunteered his time helping others in Smithville after the April 27 tornado. George enjoyed working with his hands, repairing and restoring cars, the freedom of riding motorcycles, and listening to music.
He is survived by his parents, George and Judy Fishwick, Peoria, AZ; the mother of his children, Emily Fishwick, Amory; daughters, Emma Fishwick, Amory, AZAN Blasia Fishwick, USN, Bremerton, WA, and Morgan Fishwick, Baldwyn; step-daughter, Danielle Rios, Baldwyn; sons, Chance Fishwick, Amory and Geo Fishwick, Baldwyn; sister, Nina Wallestad, Chanhassen, MN; brothers, David Fishwick (Maureen), Prescott, AZ, and Douglas Fishwick (Victoria), Chandler, AZ; several aunts and uncles; several nieces and nephews; and his comrades in the 155th and 198th US Army National Guard units.
He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Sarah Beth Thorn, and a brother-in-law, Craig Wallestad.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Marty Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Young Memorial Garden. Pallbearers will be David Fishwick, Douglas Fishwick, Paul Bedford, Landon Williams, Jamie Aikens, Patrick Powell, and Clay Lansdale,. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the US Army National Guard unit, Fulton.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to a trust fund established for his children at Community Bank of Amory, 905 N. Main, Amory, MS 38821.
