Wren – Shirley Kendrick Garner Outlaw, 75, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2015, at her residence. Born on December 17, 1939, in Amory, she was a daughter of the late James “Jim” Franklin and Erma Christine Howell Kendrick.
Shirley attended Amory High School. Before becoming a seamstress with Lucky Star, she was a homemaker and mother of five children. As a Christian lady, she was strong in her faith. Shirley’s center of attention was her children, family, and friends; she cherished being with them as well as spoiling her grandchildren. With her close friends Clo, Dana, Phyllis, and Crystal, they enjoyed grilling, cooking out, and talking about old times. Shirley was passionate about cancer awareness and the Epilepsy Foundation. Her hobbies were fishing, cooking, canning and gardening. Shirley’s favorite music was Country and Gospel, and Elvis was her favorite singer.
Survivors include her caregiver and special friend, Gene Lilly, Wren; daughters, Vickie Lynn Garner Coker, Wren, Lisa Ann Garner, Foley, AL, and Angela Charlotte Griggs, Wren; sister, Barbara Jean Kendrick, Wren; grandchildren, Jeremy Crump, Matthew Crump, Tristan Brophy, and Caleb Griggs; great-grandchild, Xylan Cain Jones; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Jimmy and Johnny Garner; great-grandson, Christopher Savage; brother, Jimmy Dale Kendrick; and nephew, Billy Kendrick.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Monday, December 14, 2015, at Grady’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Wren with Bro. Danny Rushing officiating. Burial will follow in Howell Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie and Ricky Garner; David Renfro; Randy Nicholson; Duane Brown; and Steve Gill; honorary pallbearers will be Rusty Murphree, and Terry, Danny, and Donny Garner.
Visitation will be from 11 AM until the service hour at the church.
