Hatley – Shirley Jean Mohler, 74, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Columbus. Born on November 16, 1941, in Greenwood Springs, she was a daughter of Dorothy Black Tidwell and the late Leburn Tidwell.
Shirley attended school in Adrian, MI. On January 31, 1959, she married Richard Mohler. Shirley was a homemaker who dearly loved her family and took great pleasure in spoiling her grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith. Shirley loved flowers and enjoyed playing bingo. An avid reader, she enjoyed reading the Left Behind book series and books by John Hagee. Shirley liked listening to Old-Time Gospel music. A very loving and caring mother and grandmother whose life revolved around her family, she will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her mother, Dorothy B. Tidwell, Amory; daughter, Kathy Smith (Matt Ruth), Amory; sons, Terry Mohler (Debora), Brewer, and Bill Mohler (Pam), Hatley; sisters, Ann Turner, Nettleton, Sue Beard (Alva), Amory, and Debbie Gosa (Larry), Sulligent, AL; brothers, Larry Tidwell, Amory, Bobby Tidwell (Diane), Amory, Ernie Tidwell (Geraldine), Amory, and Roger Tidwell (Debbie), Amory; grandchildren, Michael Lindsey; Blair, Brandon, and Dustin Mohler; Beth Cassidy; Austin Mohler; Daniel Lindsey; Kayla Sparks; Thomas Mohler; Kimmi and Noah Smith; 15 precious great-grandchildren; many loved nieces and nephews; special friend, Norma Atkinson and family.
In addition to her father and husband, Richard, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Mohler; cousin, Ken Tidwell; and her grandparents.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, November 28, 2015, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Pastor Stanley Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow in Pickle Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Noah Smith; Jake Bridges; Thomas, Brandon, and Blair Mohler; Michael and Daniel Lindsey. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin and Dustin Mohler; and Chris Cassidy.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Friday and from 10 AM until the service hour at the funeral home.
