Smithvillle—Mrs. Shirley M. McCoy, 74, passed away at her residence on Sunday, November 13, 2016. Born on July 27, 1942 in the state of Arkansas she was a daughter of the late George Washington and Tishie Emmalou Smith White. Mrs. McCoy was of the Baptist faith. She married the love of her life, Weston A. McCoy on April 1, 1961. Shirley was a seamstress in the manufacturing industry. She worked at Lucky Star, Townhouse, Stratford and finally at Red Cap from where she retired after 22 years.
She loved to quilt, attend to her flower garden, and can fresh vegetables for her family and listen to country music, especially Vince Gill. Shirley was a best friend to her children; guiding them with her words of wisdom and never ending love.
She is survived by her husband, Weston A. McCoy; daughters, Tammy Frederick (Robin), Smithville, Patty Hester, Nettleton, Carolyn Franklin, Smithville; Son, Weston McCoy II (Debra), Sulligent, Alabama; a brother, John White, Batesville; Grandchildren, Heather Hewett (Nate), Kayla Byrd (Brandon), Josh Hester (Brittany), Ethan Frederick (Kaylee), Allen Franklin, Jonah Hester, Jacob Morris, Alex McCoy, Everett McCoy; Great grandchildren, Arlen Hewett, Buck Hester, Jonesy Hester, Kalin Hewett and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Donald, Jack and Jimmy White; Sisters, Ruby Powers, Mary Pelts, Jane McCollum and Lily Smothers.
A celebration of life service will be at 2:00, Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Smithville. Bro. Paul Beam and Bro. Mark Williams will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Maxey Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Nate Hewett, Allen Franklin, Jacob Morris, Jonah Hester, Josh Hester, and Ethan Frederick. Honorary pallbearers will be Robin Frederick and Ricky Frederick.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, November 14, 2016 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Smithville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
