Smithville – Shirley A. Smith, 63, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo. Born on September 23, 1953, in Houston, MS, she was a daughter of the late Alvin Gene and Sarah Elizabeth Byars Craig.
Shirley graduated from Houlka High School. She was of the Baptist faith and was a very loving person who enjoyed listening to Gospel Music. She married the love of her life, Tony Smith, on February 11, 1972. Shirley was blessed by God with four children and she loved each member of her family dearly. Helping provide for her family, she worked as a factory worker and long time sales associate at Wal-Mart. Some of her close friends at work were Doris Martin, Katy Renfro, and Gloria Maxey.
A feisty and determined woman, she spoke her mind if she disagreed with something. Her children and grandchildren were the most important things to her in her life. She enjoyed watching movies such as Titanic, Twilight Movies, Gone with the Wind, cop show series, ID Channel Series, or Lonesome Dove. In her free time, she liked to spend time with her husband and family or go shopping. She was a very loving wife and mother who will be missed dearly by all that knew her.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Tony Smith, Smithville; daughters, Christy Edwards (Chris), Tina Harlow (Mike), Kim Smith; son, Tony Smith II and step daughter Tonya McCraw (Sammy); grandchildren, Sarah Renfro, Summer Taylor, Dylan Smith, Kelsey Taylor, Ashley Harlow, Bo Harlow, Noah Edwards, Paige Ashley, Ally Edwards; great-grandchildren, Isaac Johnson, Pamelia Renfro, Sawyer & Sidney Ashley; brothers, Johnny Craig, Ronnie Craig; sisters, Darlene Myhand, Sue Mask, Carolyn Craig, and Betty York; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Doris Martin and Gloria Maxey.
In addition to her grandparents and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers.
Her funeral service will be at 1 PM, Saturday, March 25, 2017, with Bro. Robert Fowlkes officiating. Burial will follow in Young Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be TJ Myhand, Dakota Myhand, Chris Edwards, Mike Harlow, Richard Alred, and Jonathan Craig. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Riley, Bo Harlow and Noah Edwards.
Visitation will be from 11 AM until 1:00 PM, Saturday, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory.
