Shelley Grant Summerford

Amory – Shelley Grant Summerford, 36, a devoted wife, loving mother, precious daughter and niece and a friend to many, began her new life in Heaven on March 19, 2023. She was born on May 30, 1986 in Amory, MS, to Leslie and Sheila Loden Grant.

Shelley grew up in a wonderful family and graduated from Amory High School in 2004. She furthered her education at Itawamba community College where she obtained an Associate’s Degree in Design. Shelley was a detailed, talented young woman who always put 110% into any projects or work she had put before her. She was working as an Insurance Agent for Shelter Insurance through Glasgow Agency, LLC. Shelley came in contact with and helped many people during her career at Shelter. A faithful servant, Shelley loved fiercely, selflessly, and above all she gave so much of herself to the community.

Her life was first guided by her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ with her second love and compass being her family and close friends. She was a longtime member of the Amory Church of Christ and an active member of Club 3:18. Although Shelley loved everyone and hardly met a stranger, there are two people she loved more than anyone else in the world. She married Steven Summerford on May 4, 2007. Steven was her soul mate, best friend, the love of her life, but most importantly the father of her greatest blessing, her son Grant. He was the joy and light of her life. She was so happy to be his mother and she was his greatest supporter.

She was passionate about attending and helping out with all of Grant’s sports clubs like the Amory Knights Baseball team and his TFC Soccer club. Off the field, she was an amazing member of the PTO, serving as the current President and winning the East Amory Parent of the Year Award for the 2022/2023 year. So many times, she coordinated and arranged fun events for Grant’s classmates as well as wonderful treats at the school to spoil the much deserving teachers. Some of her closest friends were Brittany Edgeworth, Lauren Sloan, Lindsay Mitchell, Christie Hendrix, Laci Hood and Paige Lochridge.

When she had down time, she liked to travel and attend Ole Miss football, basketball, and baseball games. Shelley was a big supporter of any sort of Amory Athletics as well. She loved watching Broadway musicals at the Orpheum Theatre as well as attending concerts of her favorite artists. As of late, she really enjoyed listening to anything sung by Collin Stough. She believed in supporting St. Jude and its mission in helping children. Wherever she went, she always enjoyed finding the best places with the best sweets, always being just one cinnamon roll away from being extremely happy!

Her smile will be greatly missed in the community, in the school hallways, and on the ball fields, yet the sweet memories made will always be in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Our community mourns the loss of such a sweet young lady and her family covets your prayers. There are no words to describe how she touched so many lives. Thank you Shelley, we will miss you.

She is survived by her loving husband, Steven Summerford, Amory and their son, Grant Summerford, of the home; parents, Leslie and Sheila Grant, Amory; brother, Shayne Grant (Tacy), Amory; aunt, Suzanne Loden (Howard Garner); In-Laws, Tony and Mitzi Summerford; her Nannie, Ann Seales; brother-in-laws, Todd Summerford (Corey), Baton Rouge, LA, Wade Summerford (Ashley), Oxford, MS; nieces and nephews, Will Summerford, Loden Grant, Sadie Summerford, Jon David Grant, Henry Summerford, and Matthew Summerford; special friends, Brittany Edgeworth, Lauren Sloan, Lindsey Mitchell, Christie Hendrix, and Laci Hood.
