Sharon E. Barksdale

Amory – Sharon Barksdale, 65, passed away at her residence and became reunited with her husband on January 23, 2023. She was born on August 1, 1957, in Tuscumbia, Alabama to the late John Robert McDonald and Velma Lee Fisher Vaden.

Sharon grew up in Alabama in a large family with six other siblings and she graduated from Sheffield High School in 1975. She went work at an early age at area clothing and furniture factories. Sharon was a talented seamstress who would not shy away from hard work. She married the love of her life, Raymond Barksdale III in 1978 and together they were blessed with three children. Sharon also had several grandkids and she enjoyed spending time with them. Her pets were also like family to her and she spoiled them. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to people in need during the tough times in their lives.

A woman who believed in God, Sharon was very sweet and a caring person who always put others first. She loved her family and friends dearly and cherished all the times they were able to spend together. Some of her close friends were La Juan Viator, Kathy McDonald, Victor Zubenko and some other online friends.

In her free time, she liked doing crafts, watching her favorite shows and just spending time with family. She especially loved cheering on the Crimson Tide Football team and playing games. Whenever there was a win, you could hear her often saying “Roll Tide”. Sharon liked to listen to Country and pop music. She was talented and liked to paint, draw beautiful things, and sew. Of all the things in life she was most proud of, it would have been her children and who they had become over the years.

Sharon leaves behind a legacy of love and great memories. Her family has peace knowing that she is healed. They will miss her so much and look forward to the day they are reunited.

She is survived by her daughter, Brandi Beckner, Amory, MS; sons, Eric Barksdale (Michelle), Nettleton, Tyler Barksdale (Faith), Becker; grandchildren, Gracie, Dominic, Skylar, Caden, Breleigh, and Anastasia; sister, Connie Tank (James), Sheffield, AL; brothers, Mike McDonald (Kathy), Amory, Joey McDonald, Amory, Johnny McDonald (Dorothy), Alabama, and Anthony McDonald (Tracy), Tuscumbia, AL; a host of nieces and nephews.
