Wren – Selwin West, 69, died Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at Sanctuary Hospice. Born on January 13, 1945, in Waynesboro, he was a son of the late Aden and Elvis Dearman West.
Selwin was a graduate of Central High School and honorably served in the US Army in Vietnam. He married Pauline Herring on July 1, 1994. Retiring in 2001, he worked as Maintenance Supervisor at ITT Fabri-Valve for 5 years. He was an active member of Calvary Assembly, Tupelo. Loving the Lord and having a true servant’s heart, Selwin loved helping others any way he could, from cooking good food, to mowing lawns, to giving the shirt off his back.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Pauline West, Wren; sons, Allen West (Mechelle) and Jason West (Delaine), Waynesboro; grandsons, Tyler, Mark & Jordan West, Waynesboro and Vinny West, Zion, IL; granddaughter, Tina Culver (Richard), Wren; great-grandsons, Myles and Chance Culver, Wren; mother, Elvis West, Waynesboro; brothers, Sylvester West (Glenda), Richton; Sol West (Lisa), Gap West (Sue), and Ed West (Betty) of Buckatunna; sister, Jean Sturdivant, Waynesboro; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Pop West; and nephew, Grover Jean West.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, August 30 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Ben Raper and Rev. Frank Samples officiating. Burial will follow in Wren Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry, Lloyd, Bubba, and Austin Herring; Michael Hester, Scottie Tackett; and Richard Culver. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
